This is my temporary home. It’s not where I belong. Windows and rooms that I’m passing through. This is just a stop, on the way to where I’m going. This is my temporary home.

I’ve been in a somewhat foul mood and I am not quite sure why. No one did anything wrong. Nothing unusually awful has happened. Yet I have unremitting feelings of disdain for anything and anyone. And I THINK it is because of all this talk of the future. Just like second term of high school, final semester senior year is burdened down with questions about tomorrow. I think its because everyone is talking nonstop about the future. And I HAVE post graduation plans. But they seem so far away. And it makes me want them even more. And now, talk of the future pisses me off because, honestly, I do not want what I have right now. I have what is awaiting me in May/June.
Plain and simple.

I’m just going to throw it out there that I really, really, REALLY when people rag hardcore on NASCAR. Yeah, I know, another NASCAR speech coming from me. But at this point those of you who really know me should not be surprised. So here’s what sparked this little rant….
I went to STS on my way back to New Paltz, after student teaching, to get an oil change and new wipers. I’m sitting there waiting, watching the SPEED channel and one of the guys who works their starts ragging on NASCAR to the other man behind the counter. I just eavesdropped a little to see what he was saying. He was saying that he “freaking hates” NASCAR because it is unfair. He said that all the cars have to be the same, have to meet certain standards. And in his WISE [ass] opinion, teams that have the money to put new or better technology into their machine to improve performance should be allowed too. The way they are racing now “takes all the competition out of the sport” and if NASCAR regulations were implemented into any other sport it would not stand.
Ok, first of all, NASCAR rules could NEVER be applied to any other sport because auto racing is not similar in any way shape or form to other sports. Secondly, say certain teams have the money to really enhance their cars, is that not like using performance enhancing drugs? Granted the drugs affect the athlete’s body, but the car is the key tool to NASCAR. And that doesn’t level the playing field at all. Top teams, like Hendrick and Childress will have super-cars and leave smaller teams, say the Wood-Brothers or even Penske or SHR would not fair as well.
And I just have to say, I know a lot of people do not like the sport. And they are entitled to it, every one has their opinion. But to sit there and say they HATE IT. Now I’m not a big fan of baseball. But I respect it. I would never sit here and HATE on something that other people, a huge mass of other people, love.
It really agitated me today. WEH.
